Your memory is a monster

"Your memory is a monster; you forget - it doesn't. It simply files things away. It keeps things for you, or hides things from you - and summons them to your recall with a will of its own.
You think you have a memory; but it has you!"

"It doesn't matter where you learned it - it's a gift. If you care about something, you have to protect it - if you're lucky enough to find a way of life you love, you have to find the courage to live it"

John Irving, A prayer for Owen meany

S. Quasimodo

Ora sono sola
senza il mondo e non
lo cerco nemmeno
Chiusa fra i muri
di questa stanza
sempre sparsi i sensi
ed i significati
Non basta piu' quel mio eterno
sorriso

(LB, 29/8/96)

Toergenjev, Liza

"Perhaps it was just because of the strength of his desires that he had considered himself a man to whom more was permitted than to others"

Dostoevski, Crime and Punishment
