I understand,
You need to switch the roles around.
And despise me for the fact that we didn't last.
And I will be your punching bag,
If you'll stay in my past.
I understand,
To want to have a mature dialogue
Is too much to ask.
And I will be your one regret,
If you'll stay in my past.
I understand
You delude yourself and sleep with a different girl
Each night in order to recover fast
And I will let you cheapen sex
If you’ll stay in my past
I understand
That we can never speak again
And your resentment towards me will last
I will let you forget me
If you’ll stay in my past
I understand
That you will one day love again
And that it’s selfish of me to want to ask
If you can only live of the memory of me
So please stay in my past
Maria Mena
...Wish I could ever be that strong! Eh..actually, no, that's not me. Whoever has been that important in my life I just can not lose........

Hi MonaLiza,
it seems like something is really bothering you. The meaning of the text you have chosen is greater than many other piece you've published so far.
I do hope most of it is metaphorically or can be looked upon by you with some distance.

Hi mR. Anonymous,
a lot of it is metaphorically. If you switch some stuff around it actually talks about one of the two biggest things I had to get over during the last couple of years. Although I believe I mostly have, it will never leave me. He will never leave my memory. I will never leave his. This song by Maria Mena just expresses all the confusion and also 'maybe real love just isn't meant to be and many of us are just...lost'.
Hi MonaLiza,
I honestly think a lost love isn't really worth worrying about especially if some things happened a few years ago.
Although the person in question might still have a special place in your heart, or the other way 'round, why not cherish the best of that time and forget about anything else that happened?
Mistakes are supposed to make you better, not bitter and teach you a valuable lesson of life for the near and the distant future.
Regards,
you know who...
